Valediction (April 6, 2013)

April 6, 2013 § 1 Comment

pear-carousel-03 Valediction … did you know that it refers to saying good-bye at the end of a letter or message? I had no idea; I had only heard it in related to graduation — some high achieving, nerdy or popular child telling his/her peers how to live their lives. I adore this old world courtesy of creating a meaningful good-bye. My valediction is a bit longer than “your sincere and devoted friend”, but this is a poetry prompt.

Valediction

Now we take leave, my luv,
my angel, my boo, my pear

Not until we meet again
shall your name pass my lips

for it is yours and mine alone

My angel, my boo, my pear
your sweet scent

Lingers on my brow and
tingles my reddened lips

Not until we meet again
shall fragrance please my nose

My boo, my pear, my rose

You linger in my thoughts
thorns cast away

Only drops of dew upon you
