April 14 ’10: For N. A.

April 14, 2010 § 7 Comments

ReadWritePoem’s instructions today were to write a cleve poem, a form I’m unfamiliar with.  Mine’s quite simple, not poetic, and is in remembrance of a young acquaintance. Today we learned that she died, a suicide, this past weekend.

For N. A.

pushing up daisies you are now          I knew you by your British teeth
we fertilize your bed with stones         torn jeans and plumber’s cracks
here is what we cannot say                    we needed more to know of you
we don’t want to water you                    now that you are gone
