Happy New Year! Want Cake?

Happy 5770! I’m ready for this new year – my horoscope says that the struggles of the past several years are over and it’s now an easy jog up towards success – or is it an relaxed stroll down the hill? At any rate, I’m ready.
Shall we start off with a contest and hope the fates send recognition our way? I say yes! (And not just because I haven’t had time to be creative again yet…)
By the way, I’m not using the queenly ‘we.’ I want all of us to be recognized for the gifts we are.
From Gotham Writer’s Workshop comes news of a poetry contest:
“Gotham has teamed up with author/poet Ellen Hopkins and Simon & Schuster publishing for a truly unique poetry competition – The Tricks Poetry Writing Contest. Writing in verse, Ellen Hopkins deals with tough subjects, addiction, abuse in her books and her latest, Tricks, is no different.
Now it is your turn to write about a tough subject or trying life experience, real or imagined, spun into four to eight stanzas of verse.
The author of the winning entry will receive a free 6- or 10-week workshop. Entry is free. For more details, rules, and online entry, click Tricks.”
I read you all, and for us, this topic is a 1) piece of cake, 2) no-brainer and 3) any other cliche you prefer.
