Run, Rabbit, Run
As the day closes
(run, rabbit, run)
Another day of heavily scored sheets and errors
Jibes and lies
(see the antelope leap)
I make my way back
Protected by dog breath and say yes and
Dharma prayers
(the lioness’s droopy lids fall)
Synced by electrons and god-powered tissues and
unseen engines, blueblood
I live in the jungle and the pasture
I tear raw flesh and graze tall grasses
I am a creature of God falling from the tower.

Synced by electrons and god-powered tissues and
unseen engines, blueblood
Wow!
Thanks, Alan. That collection of words reminds me a bit of my beloved dogs…
Nice little poem.
Usually I have problems understanding (or rather I should say, appreciating) poetry. Not sure why other than it never really appealed to me while growing up.
But, better late than never to expose one’s self to different genres.
G, I’m just starting to read poetry, so I’m with you. Working on learning a new genre.
Reading is Part One; Understanding is Part Two. :-)
Thanks for doing Part One here.

Yes – I’m glad! But it looks like it won’t help, doesn’t it?
Sometimes I’m disheartened. Is that a word?
Close enough.
