Wanna debut with Salt Publishing?

crashawprize250Salt Publishing takes chances with new poets.

They deserve applause.  In my Facebook inbox was this gem:

THE CRASHAW PRIZE

If you have a debut collection of poetry why not consider entering the 2009 Crashaw Prize?

The Crashaw Prize is an international annual prize for a first collection of poetry. Entrants must not have been published before, and must permanently reside in the UK & Ireland, the USA, or Australia & New Zealand.

Salt accept submissions of poetry manuscripts postmarked from 1st January until 31st October each year. The winners will be announced in December and published the following June.

The Richard Crashaw Prize winners will receive synchronous publication in paperback in the UK, USA and Australia by Salt. There may be up to six winners each year. Winners will be issued with a standard publishing contract from Salt.

So, who’s in? There’s not much greater motivation to get my chapbook (which I said I would finish by the end of May and have done, uhh, nothing on – well, I found a template…) ready to go.

There ’s always magic.

Doh! What do they have against Canadians? We’re Commonwealth!

You get in there, Pamela! I’m rooting for you like a truffle pig!

Go for it Pamela! I found my publisher because I entered an online writing contest. I even made it to the semi-finals. Sometimes you can get great feedback too.

Claire, that’s impressive. And thanks for sharing that info.

I’ve been avoiding contests. I’ll have to seriously rethink this. :-0
